Make Money With Direct Mail Review: An Honest Look
Make Money With Direct Mail review: what Josh Rowberry's Skool community costs, what's inside, his Facebook method, and how it compares to the 9x12 Method.
If you watched the podcast where Josh Rowberry walked through his postcard side hustle, you're probably Googling Make Money With Direct Mail right now to see if his community is worth joining. Fair question. Full transparency: I'm Mitchell Tebo, I built the 9x12 Method, and we teach the same shared postcard model, so I'm obviously biased. So I'm going to stick to what's on his site and what he said on the show, give him credit where he's earned it, and show you how the two compare. Then you decide.
Here's the thing. The shared postcard business is real. Sell ad slots on one big postcard to local businesses, mail it to every home on a route, keep the difference. Josh does it. Our members do it. It works.
Make Money With Direct Mail is a newer, smaller paid community run by one operator (a former 9x12 Method member), built mostly around his Facebook group approach. The 9x12 Method is the original 9x12 community: 2,800+ members, weekly live coaching, our own print and mail service, and a set of tools members get for free, including a spot on the Our Local Spotlight partner map.
So the real question isn't "does this work?" It's "which setup gives you the best shot at filling your card, especially now that a lot of people saw the same video?"
Make Money With Direct Mail is a paid Skool community founded by Josh Rowberry, who posts as @directmailjosh on TikTok and Instagram. He was featured on The Koerner Office Podcast in April 2026, in an episode that passed 170,000 views.
Here's something worth knowing: Josh got his start as a member of the 9x12 Method community. He learned the shared postcard model with us, then went on to launch his own community in late 2025 teaching the same model. Honestly, I'm glad it worked for him. That's the whole point of teaching this stuff. It's also why so much of what you saw on the podcast will look familiar if you've spent any time with us.
Here's what his site and Skool page list as of September 2026:
Price: $35 a month, or $315 a year
Refunds: no free trial and no refunds; the site says all charges are final
What's included: a written and video course (9 courses on Skool), Canva postcard templates, outreach scripts built around his Facebook group approach, access to a printer he recommends, USPS Every Door Direct Mail guidance, and direct messages with Josh
Community size: about 375 members, with Josh as the only admin
Started: October 2025, after Josh learned the model as a 9x12 Method member
Tools: no software is listed; the FAQ recommends Canva Pro and an AI chatbot
His site includes an earnings disclaimer saying the results it shows are exceptional examples, not guarantees. That's the right call. We say the same about ours.
I'm not going to pretend he's doing it wrong. He's not. Credit where it's due:
He actually runs cards. On the podcast he walked through real sales, including a $1,100 first sale to a plumber.
He's great at Facebook groups. His approach is specific: post in local business networking groups instead of neighborhood groups, keep the post short, and post on a schedule.
He charges real money. He talked about selling slots at around $600 on a big card and keeping the price near or under 10 cents a home. That's the right way to think about pricing.
Low price, direct access. $35 a month and you can message the founder directly.
Happy members. His Skool page shows a 5.0 rating from its reviews.
If you want one operator's Facebook playbook and a small group, it's a reasonable place to start.
Both communities teach the same basic math. Sell 16 slots, pay for printing and postage, keep the rest. The difference is how big you go.
On the podcast, Josh described mailing big cards to as many as 10,000 homes at about $600 a slot, with roughly $4,800 in printing and postage and $4,000 to $5,000 in profit per mailing. That's a solid way to do it once you're rolling.
Here's how our standard card works:
5,000
Homes reached
16
Slots
$500
Price per slot
$8,000
Revenue
$2,999
All Inclusive print and mail
$5,001
Profit per card
Same ballpark profit on half the mail. For a brand-new operator, that means a smaller print bill, less to collect before you print, and less on the line if the card goes slow. And our community card is even smaller: 2,500 homes, $250 slots, $2,551 profit.
These are the model's numbers when every slot sells. They're not a promise. Results vary, and the first card takes real work.
When a video gets 170,000 views, a lot of people copy the exact same Facebook post. That means local business networking groups can see the same "I'm putting together a co-op postcard for local businesses" post from several different strangers in the same week. Admins get stricter, and business owners start scrolling past. The script isn't bad. It just stops standing out when everyone's using it.
So how do you stand out?
Look established before they Google you. When a business owner looks you up, a real partner page on Our Local Spotlight, next to 400+ other operators on the map, says "this is a real program, not a guy who watched a podcast last Tuesday." Members get that pin free.
Show a real card. Post a photo of an actual printed card, not a mockup. Better yet, bring one to the business.
Show proof. A tracked QR code with scan numbers from a past card beats any script. That's what ScanLab is for.
Don't live on one channel. Facebook groups are great until they're crowded. Our members fill cards with cold email, cold calls, walking into businesses, and people they already know. Here's our full list of where to find advertisers, with a different approach for every kind of business.
The script got 170,000 views. Your Our Local Spotlight page, your real card, and your scan numbers are the things nobody else can copy.
Real members, real channels. Sharina sold out her first card through local Facebook groups and texts, working before her kids woke up. Ryan had never sold anything and sold out a community card in a single Saturday morning going door to door. Rachel had a roofer pay $3,000 up front for 12 months of mailings off one Facebook group post. Different people, different channels, same card.
You want one operator's Facebook group playbook, start to finish
You like a small group where you can message the founder directly
You're fine with no refunds on a monthly plan
Pick the 9x12 Method if:
You want more than one way to fill a card, not just Facebook groups
You want printing and mailing handled for you, postage included
You want ScanLab, the AI Ad Designer, and a free Our Local Spotlight pin so you look legit from day one
You want 2,800+ operators, weekly live coaching, and 1,000+ wins to learn from
And if you're not sure? Don't join anything yet. Watch the free masterclass, grab the free 9x12 postcard template, and read the guides. Don't join a community until you really know.
Yes. Honestly, yes. The whole model is public. Here's how to make money with direct mail from scratch, and our community card business guide walks through a smaller first card step by step. Full transparency: the community is for people who want the shortcut, meaning the scripts, the coaching, and the tools. You don't need it to get started.
Yes, it's a real paid Skool community run by an operator who sells shared postcard ads himself, and its Skool page shows strong member reviews. It has no free trial and no refunds, so read the terms before you join.
As of September 2026, the site lists $35 a month or $315 a year, with no free trial and no refunds. Prices change, so check the site for current pricing.
Josh Rowberry is the founder of the Make Money With Direct Mail community on Skool. He got his start as a member of the 9x12 Method community before launching his own in late 2025. He runs shared postcard campaigns for local businesses, posts as @directmailjosh on TikTok and Instagram, and was featured on The Koerner Office Podcast in April 2026.
Both teach the shared postcard model. Make Money With Direct Mail is a smaller community built around one operator's Facebook group approach. The 9x12 Method is the original 9x12 community with 2,800+ members, weekly live coaching, in-house print and mail, and member tools like ScanLab, the AI Ad Designer, and a free Our Local Spotlight partner pin.
It can, but when a video reaches 170,000 people, local business groups fill up with near-identical posts. The operators who stand out look established (a real partner page, a real printed card, real scan numbers) and fill their cards from more than one channel.
Absolutely. Nothing you learned is wasted. Your scripts, your advertisers, and your town all carry over. Most people who switch are after the tools, the print service, and a bigger group of operators to learn from.
Whichever way you go, go sell some slots. As always, I'm rooting for you.
