Chapters

Mitchell's long 9x12 postcard business tutorial: pick a location, collect contacts, prospect, get paid, design ads, and send the finished card to print.

Key takeaways

  • The business runs in six steps: choose a location, collect contacts, prospect, collect payment, design ads, then send the finished card to print.
  • Keep the pitch simple and act as a friendly community connector, not a pushy salesperson, when asking businesses to join the card.
  • Give prospects three reasons to join: reaching every home in town, a fraction of the cost of a solo mailer, and category exclusivity.
  • If a card runs late, tell advertisers what stage you are at and ask who they know who might join, which often brings referrals.
  • Only place an ad on the card after the business has paid, then download the finished design as a PDF Print file for the printer.

While everybody is working tirelessly trying to build complex AI businesses, working thousands of hours just for their business to be swallowed by the next Chat GPT update, myself and others are quietly taking over a brand new space that's allowing us to make thousands of dollars every month, even tens of thousands of dollars, all from the comfort of our home. And this business does not require long hours. It doesn't require the brain of a Harvard student graduate. In fact, you don't even need to be that personable. I'm an introvert myself.

And I'm going to make a bold promise to you at the beginning of this long messy video because look me in the eyes. You will make $4 to $5,000 this month if you watch and implement exactly what I tell you to do step by step in this long video over the next however many minutes this video is going to be. So you won't need to quit your job and risk going broke. I'm not going to tell you you need any cash in your wallet and you won't have to rearrange your entire life to make this work. All right?

This is a lifestyle business. All you need is a willingness to sacrifice maybe one to two hours per day of your free time to put towards this new business. So yes, you can do this with a job. And let me be clear, it's not going to be easy. It's simple, but it will not be easy.

Okay? No business is easy. If you want easy, just go work at McDonald's. That's your decision. Okay?

So, are you willing to make a small sacrifice if it means being able to afford luxury vacations or to buy you freedom to finally quit that blood sucking career or just to take a $5,000 bite out of your student loan debt? Are you willing to make a small sacrifice for those kinds of results? If you're not willing to make that sacrifice, just click out of this video. But for those of you who are and have what it takes, let's talk about exactly what this business is. It's called the 9x12 method.

And at this moment, I have to level with you. I kind of lied earlier when I said that this is a brand new space. Kind of. It was partially a lie. Instead, we're injecting ourselves into a hundred billion dollar industry that's existed for decades, but hasn't been innovated in for decades.

And do you know what happens when you innovate in a space that's worth this much money and hasn't been innovated at all in decades? Cold hard cash, baby. But more importantly, we're providing a massive amount of value to our clients that is truly appreciated and we're paid well because of it. So the 9x12 method is a direct mail business. And in this business, you are simply a community connector.

Okay? Your only job is to bring local businesses together to advertise on this large 9x12 in postcard. That's it. You're bringing them together. So instead of businesses paying thousands of dollars to mail their own postcards out, you actually gather them all together to share the space of this one postcard.

So you're drastically reducing their costs to market while you pocket the difference. And now here's how it works. You approach these local businesses and offer a spot on this massive, beautiful postcard. And it's a it's a unicorn to them. They've never heard of this.

And each business buys a space, usually the size of a little bit bigger than a business card, to advertise to thousands of homes in their town. It gets mailed to them. So they pay a fraction of the cost of what they would typically spend on mail marketing, and that's the value you're providing. So your primary role is very simple. Find businesses, collect their ads, or offer to design the ads, but I'll talk more about that later.

And then coordinate the mailing with the trusted printer once you have it sold out. You don't print, mail, or handle any of the physical logistics yourself. That's all done by the printing partner, which I'll share more about later on. It's not very important yet. So, here's why I call this business a no-brainer.

It creates a three-win situation. Everybody wins. Everybody that's involved wins. And here's the benefits for you specifically as the organizer of this. First, high profit, low overhead.

Your typical postcard will have 16 businesses paying about $500 each. So that's $8,000 in total revenue in your pocket before you have to pay for anything before you have to pay for printing anything. So you're going to pay around $3 to $4,000 to print and mail. So what's left in your pocket after that is around $4 to $5,000 in pure profit at the end of the month. There's zero upfront costs.

So there's no huge investments upfront, no inventory to store, zero risk other than your time. You only print, like I said, after you've collected all the payments in your pocket. So there's little to no logistics involved either. So your job is simply to connect these local businesses with this incredible offer. And it's extremely flexible and scalable.

You can work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, every day, birthdays, I don't care. You can work every day. It's entirely up to you. This is your business. And if you want to scale up, you can run multiple postcards in different areas and make 10 $15,000 per month just by duplicating this.

It's absolutely doable. I did it myself. So, here's the benefit for local businesses. It's crystal clear. They get ultra affordable marketing by splitting the cost with other businesses.

They reach thousands of potential customers for pennies on the dollar, for pennies per home, basically, which is far cheaper than them doing it themselves. It's also local and targeted. So, businesses love being featured on this cuz it's more of a community card. It's seen as a community thing rather than junk mail, which a typical postcard would be called junk mail and just get thrown in the trash. It's also immediate visibility.

So unlike digital ads or newspapers, as soon as this comes out of the mailbox, their ad is seen. It's impossible not to be seen. Not to mention that this is actually a unicorn. If you receive this in your mailbox, you're probably going to take a look at some of the deals and discounts that are on there. And the other value we bring to them is exclusivity.

So there's only going to be one plumber on the card. There's only going to be one realtor. So these businesses can actually claim their stake in the community and be the only one in that industry on this card every single month. So that's a massive value that you're providing to them. And why am I making this video for you guys?

Because I succeed as long as you succeed. Because I provide tons of services. Full transparency. I provide tons of services based around this business to people who like you are who are going to be trying this business out. And I'll talk more about those services as we go on.

And they're all optional. You can do this all on your own, but I provide those services. For example, I have a design team that can help you with your designs. But that helps you rest assured that if there's anything in this business that you don't like the idea of, I've got you covered. Okay.

So, I win when you win. You win. I win. That's why I'm making this video. So, before we jump into action, let's quickly map out the exact steps I'm going to walk you through throughout this long video.

And there's really only six steps to this business. And once you've completed all those steps, those are the steps. You've sold out a card in your first month. You probably made $5,000 in profit. So, first is choosing your target location.

That's simple. Second, you're going to collect the contact info of all the businesses in that target location like phone numbers, emails. Third, you're going to start prospecting to them. We'll go over the different ways of prospecting. Although I prefer email because I'm an introvert, but some people do cold calling, some people do doortodoor, but I prefer email.

The next step is collecting payments because we all want cash in our pockets, don't we? And fifth, we'll be designing the ads for our clients that actually want the ad designed by us. Some will just send in the ads themselves. But don't be afraid of this cuz I provide templates that makes this super simple. And lastly, once the cash is collected, the ads are designed, we put them all on one large postcard design, and we simply download that design, send it to the printer.

The printer will take care of printing the cards and actually shipping the cards. And now you might be wondering, how do they ship them? How do they know where it's going? Well, you don't need all the addresses of 5,000 houses. Okay?

We use a system called the Every Door Direct mail system. It's a US Postal Service service service and what it allows us to do is just select the routes, the mailing routes that we want the cards to go to and they'll get distributed to every single household on that route. So, we don't need every single individual address. So, you're just going to tell your printer the routes that you want it to go to and they'll end up there. And obviously during this tutorial, I'll show you the break exactly what to do for that process.

Basically complete at this point. Then you can rinse and repeat this monthly if you want to or even stack more cards and do more cards per month in different locations. Okay, so now the rest of this video is going to be honestly really rough and raw as I'm just going to bring you through the entire process. I'm going to be sharing my screen just showing you step by step exactly what to do without the fluff, no BS. It's just going to be raw.

A lot of it's uncut. And let's just get to it. Let's dive in. Okay, so really quickly, I'm going to blast through some core concepts and mindset shifts that you're going to need to really understand and comprehend before we get into the real actionable steps. And I promise right after this, we're going to get to the step-by-step action.

All right, so first off, simplicity sells. So keep your offer simple. You're not pitching some complicated marketing package. You're literally just bringing people together on a 9x12 postcard. Keep it simple like that.

Would you like to join a shared postcard mailing to 5,000 local homes? It's cheap because you're all splitting the cost. You want to join? Simple. Keep it simple.

Next, you want to approach this as a community connector. Okay? Don't look at yourself as a salesperson. This is a huge key for your mindset. Otherwise, you're going to be miserable just trying to sell all day.

Okay? You're not a pushy salesperson. You're just a friendly local connector. Hey, you want to join this card? I'm I'm bringing people aboard.

Okay? Something casual like that. You have a valuable offer. Okay? And not everybody's going to see the value in it, but you do have a valuable offer.

and the people who do see the value want to jump right on it. Okay, so you're connecting those people. You're connecting the good people that you actually want to work with. Okay, next focused on value first. So you really only want to give three pieces or three reasons for someone to join something because after that there's diminishing returns.

Once you give four, five, six reasons, you actually take away from your point. So, three reasons I see people should actually join these mailers is one, reach every home in their community. So, they can reach 5,000 households for the price of what typically they could reach 500 households. You're basically dividing their costs by 10. Next, cost efficiency.

It's a fraction of the normal cost of of normal mailers. So, kind of touches on the other one where they could reach an entire city rather than just a neighborhood. And like I said, this is this is raw. Okay. So exclusivity is the third one.

They're exclusive. They get to own their industry. This is our their opportunity to literally live in the households of every single person in their town for every single month forever. They can literally take over their industry and it's exclusive. So next, okay, so you're really trying to build a recurring income stream here and that's important to remember.

So deliver value, okay? Maintain those relationships that you've delivered value to because those relationships can last a very long time and even open up other opportunities like web design, other services that you can provide. And if you don't know how to do web design, you can always outsource it. So always say yes, okay? You're going to want to keep generating these renewals.

Just keep people in your ecosystem, okay? It's a it's a it's a what's it called? You know, it's a community business. You're just you're you're connecting with people. All right?

And you just got to put in consistent effort. Once you get that momentum rolling, it's like a snowball. People tell other people. It's it's very it spreads through the community like wildfire. But consistency is key.

If you don't have the consistency, you're going to lose your momentum. You have to communicate throughout the process. This is important. Businesses don't care if you're two weeks late for your deadline for when you said you're going to send the mailer out. They don't care when it goes out.

They just care that you communicate to them throughout the process. They don't want to think that you stole their 500 bucks and ran away with it. Never to talk to them again. Okay? So, if you're running late on the mailer, just tell them, "Hey, I'm having a little trouble getting this filled up this time around.

Who do you know that might be interested in joining the card as well?" You're going to get referrals from that. But what's important is that you're showing them that you care to communicate with them throughout the process and let them know what step you're at. That's all they care about. Just communicate.

But don't overcommunicate. You don't got to tell them, "Hey, I just You don't got to just You don't got to tell them every detail, okay? You want to create win-win partnerships." So, think of it like a partnership with these businesses. Going back to that last point about asking for referrals, you don't want it to seem like you're doing this service for them.

You want it to sound like it's a a teamwork kind of thing, like, "Hey, who do you know that might want to jump on this card? Let's work together as a team to get this filled up so that we can get this card out for you to actually get your ad out there." All right, that's it for the mindset stuff. Let's get to the real stuff. Okay, now we're going to go over step one, which is simply choosing your target location.

This is where you're going to be reaching out to businesses and also where the mailers are going to go to. So, first first I'm going to explain some like core concepts. But so the first of all, you can do this anywhere. You don't have to do this in the town you live in. Okay?

So, for example, if I live in Gilmington, I can do this I can do this all the way over here. I can start reaching out to businesses on email over here in Beaver, Utah. Okay? Although, I don't recommend this. If if you live in a town that reaches these other points that I'm about to tell you, then I recommend just starting in your hometown because that gives you a little bit more credibility when you could say, "Hey, I also live here in this town.

Let me help you with this." So, here are the other few points. So, you want a town with a decent population. Not a crazy large population, but decent enough. Okay?

So, for example, New York City. If you're reaching out to a business in New York City, let's say in Manhattan, and you say to them, "Hey, I'm sending out a postcard to 5,000 houses in New York City." What do you think that sounds like? Sounds like a crap deal. Okay?

Because 5,000 houses in New York City, that's like a drop in the bucket, not even. Okay? And those businesses probably don't even need advertising because they have so much foot traffic walking around them every day. Okay? So, I recommend staying away from large cities.

And if you do want to be near a city, stay in the outskirts. I recommend a population of 15,000 residents or more. But probably don't tiptoe anywhere over the 100,000 people in population. So, for example, in New York City, let's see. Let's go North Bergen.

Okay, North Bergen. See what the population is there. 63,000. See, this is perfect. So, I would say I'm reaching out to 5 or I'm sending a postcard out to 5,000 homes in North Bergen.

Okay. So, this would be a perfect prime suspect for a good location to actually send the mailers. But here's the thing. We have North Bergen as the target location for the mailers. But a business that's located in, say, Kierney, just a few miles away, is still going to be okay and open to advertising to residents in North Bergen.

So, I'm going to reach out to businesses in a radius about 15 miles in every direction. Okay? 15 miles in every direction. Wow. Flash flood warning.

How sad. But businesses in a 15 mile radius, those are the ones that are valid prospects that you should be reaching out to. Okay? But our location that we are actually mailing to, we're sending the mailers to is North Bergen. Okay?

So that in the email, I'm going to say, "Hey, I'm sending a postcard to 5,000 Doors in North North Bergen." Okay? But I'm going to be reaching out to businesses here, here, here, because they all want to get some customers in here that'll drive out to them. Okay. So, now we have a location, North Bergen.

It has a population of 60,000 people, which is solid. It's between 15,000 and 100,000. And more importantly, it has to have a lot of businesses. So, I'm hoping there's a lot of businesses here. Honestly, anywhere near the city, you're going to have plenty of businesses to reach out to.

Especially when the city is New York City, there's just a million businesses. You You can't really go wrong. As long as the population is right, there's probably going to be enough businesses for you to reach out to because this is a numbers game. You're going to be reaching out to a decent amount of businesses. So, you want to have a lot of options.

Okay? So, high business density. That's good. And lastly, if you can help it, is a strong communal character to it. You don't want like some tourist town that's a ghost town for half the year.

You want to be in a place that, you know, there's a strong community vibe. The people recognize the business names. The businesses don't want to market to just random people that are staying there on vacation for a week. Although that might be good, but those people aren't checking the mailbox. You get my point.

Okay. So, we've got our location, North Bergen. That's basically how you choose it. Population, business density, not a massive city. You got to choose a specific location.

And ideally, if it has a little bit of a community to it, but that's a lesser deal. Okay. Okay. So now now that you've chosen your target location, it's time to choose your mailing routes. This is where the cards are eventually going to get mailed out to once you're ready to fulfill them.

So it's very simple. We go to edddmusps.com. You don't have to type the rest of this. Just edm.

usps.com and it'll bring you to this map. And then we're going to put in the zip code or the address or the city of the location we're targeting. So I'm going to put 03801 Portsmith, New Hampshire because that's one of my locations. Don't come near me.

All right. Stay away. Choose your own spot. Okay. So, these are all of the mailing routes.

So, this is basically the route that the mail truck goes on every day. Okay? And you get to choose which routes you want these cards sent to cuz we're using this EDDDM program. Remember, we don't have to have the actual individual addresses. Well, this represents that.

So, all you do is you click on the routes and it'll actually show you how many mail pieces there are. It'll also show you some other some other data when you're hovering over. As you can see, like this route has at the top, you can see 491 residential locations. 259 are businesses. Shows you the average age, although that's a little messed up right now.

But anyways, you're going to click and you're going to select the routes you wanted to go to. I recommend choosing, you know, higher income neighborhoods. That's typically more appealing to local businesses. They want to advertise to people with a higher income, more disposable income that they can pay for their services. So, as a service to them, choose the higher income neighborhoods.

And you're going to want to get as close as you can to 5,000 because we're offering we're we're saying we're sending these cards to 5,000 doors. Okay? It's going to be hard to get exactly 5,000, but we can get as close as we can try to get. 4941. That is extremely close.

That that's like about as close as you're going to get. Sometimes some people get lucky and get exactly 5,000 and you can mess around with it. All obviously just look at the income levels and and choose wisely. Don't overthink it because you could always change this every month too, which routes it's going to. But these are the routes that the cards are going to and you come to the table here once you've selected them.

You can see which ones you've checked off and just copy that route. Put it in your notes. Copy each route. Put it in your notes. That way you know exactly what routes you're mailing to for when it comes down to the end of this video when we're actually sending the card the the file off to the printer and you got to tell them what routes you want them to mail the postcards too.

Cuz what the printer does is the printer prints the postcards. They package them up, ban them, and then they send them to the post office, your local post office where it's going to be distributed. The post office receives the paperwork that your printer filled out that says all these routes on it. And then that paperwork tells the USPS where these cards are going. USPS mails those cards out next day to all those locations.

All right, so those routes, just note them down. Okay, but don't overthink it. And that's how you choose your routes. Let's move on. Okay, so now that we chose a location, the next step would be collecting business's contact info.

But first, we should go over like a list of very good industries to reach out to. And there's actually, as you can see, I haven't talked about this yet, but I have a a community. There's 2700 people in it, all 9 by12ers. It's called the 9 by12 method. They're all we're all talking in the community.

It's like a Facebook group, and there's a course attached to it. And then all these freebies. You can see there's a bunch of freebies, including a list of best industries target, which I'm letting you get a little sneak peek at. But if you want the full list, just comment list below, and I'll actually send you the full list as a little gift. Yeah.

But anyways, you can get tons in that community, including the step-by-step course and being able to post, comment, and actually chat with 2,700 other 9x12ers who are all, you know, making mistakes, all learning together. It's actually fantastic. So, if you're interested in that, yeah, but here's a little sneak peek at the best uh industries to target. But I guess the biggest thing to note is the heavier the the heavier the higher ticket the higher ticket item that they sell, the heavier the spender they're going to be on marketing most likely. So for example, realtors, they're making $10,000 commission checks from selling one house.

They're going to be willing to spend $500 on a postcard that might not even get them a listing, but if they do two postcards cost them one grand now, they might they might get a listing out of that. They're willing to really give it a chance. So, the larger the ticket, the item the that they're selling or the service that they're selling, the better off, the more likely they are to want to advertise on this card. Roofers are another prime suspect. Great people to reach out to painting companies, but I'm not going to give too too many away.

Comment list and I'll just give you that massive list or just join our community. It's a link in the description. Okay, we're going to go over to one other freebie now because now we have the list of the best industries to target. Now, we got to actually collect the contact info like phone numbers, emails, and I'm going to show you how to do that. But first, we're going to go over to our freebies, and we're going to use the Google Sheet contact template.

Basically, it's just an I just provide an easy way for you to collect your contacts. You can easily replicate this yourself, but I provide it as a freebie. And we're just going to go through and collect the email addresses and phone numbers of local businesses. So, here's what you do. Now that we have the list of best industries, all we're going to look up is industry in town.

So, for example, roofers in what's it town? Milbury. We're going to do Milbury, Massachusetts. Okay. So, roofers in Milbury, Massachusetts.

And then we're going to go to Google Maps. Okay. Google Maps is the best because these will all be Google businesses. We're not just going to ghost websites that for businesses that haven't existed in a decade and for whatever reason they're still paying for their website. We're going to actual active Google businesses.

Okay. So, these are more likely to have real contact info. Okay. And we're going to zoom in literally just to the radius that we want to reach out to. Okay.

So, okay. Let's just say we're Why is it bringing us to Worcester? I don't even know where Milbury is. Let's pretend we're targeting Worcester. Okay.

I I typed in roofers in Worcester Mass because clearly that's what it's giving us. Whatever is showing in this map is what's showing as the search results as long as I have this checked. Okay, so all these pins, these are all valid prospects. And what we're going to do is going to go website to website. All right.

Ooh, sponsored. That's even better. Target the ones that are already advertising. So we're going to go to the website. And the first place you're going to look is the header.

The next place you're going to look is the footer. And the only other place you want to bother looking is a contact page if they have one. If you can't find their contact info in any of those three places, don't waste your time. You might find it eventually like 10 minutes down the line, but this is a numbers game. You got to be busting out a bunch of contact info.

So, just look in the three common places or give up and go to the next one. Okay. So, we got the phone number. We're going to copy it. We're going to go to our spreadsheet, paste it in.

All right. And we're just going to rinse and repeat basically. So, let me let's go let's go to another one because typically they have a Facebook icon. And if you can find the Facebook icon, that's the first place you should go. Don't even look for their contact info.

Look for that Facebook icon. So, let's see if we can find one with the Facebook icon again. Oh, see there, right in the footer, there's a Facebook icon. Now, watch. We're going to get all of their info right here.

We're going to copy their name. Boom. Name. But look, phone number, email, address, name, everything's right there. We didn't have to go through their entire website.

Okay. So, that's how you collect contact info fast. that right there. So, I'm just going to make a a list of maybe 10 and then we're going to move on to prospecting after I have this list of contacts. Okay.

Okay. So, I just went overboard, collected a bunch of different contact info for a bunch of businesses. I just went with roofers. Obviously, then you're going to go on to the next industry that you chose, like realtors. You're just going to collect a ton of contact info.

But now that we have some contact info, we're actually going to send out an email. And you want to start out if you're if you opened up a brand new email account, you want to start out on the slower side. You don't want to send 30 emails an hour because very quickly you'll start going to spam and you don't want that to happen. You won't even know you're going to spam. People will just stop responding.

Okay? So, start just sending a few every hour, okay? And after a couple weeks, just slowly you can build that up. I have other videos where I actually dive more in depth on how to avoid spam. But just rule of thumb, just keep it slow and steady up until about one month.

At one month, you can max it out at 30 emails per day and you will always be safe at 30 emails per day as long as you're not adding attachments and stuff. So now I'm going to show you exactly what we're going to do and exactly the script that we're going to send. Okay, so now we're in Gmail. We're going to send some emails. So here's exactly what we're going to do.

So we don't want to send one at a time. and that'll take forever. So, what you should do once your email is fully warmed up after a month, you can send 10 per hour safely. So, and and like I said, 30 total per day. So, you can split that up.

Do that every couple of hours. You really want to spread them out. And what I do is I go to BCC. I copied everything from my spreadsheet here and I'm going to paste it into BCC. And look, we have them all pasted in there.

Okay. And then the subject line. Let's go grab that from the course in our community which you can join at the link in the description. And I'm being very generous giving this to you guys, but there's a whole lot more in there that can be helpful to you if you guys decide to join. So, we're going to well, okay.

So, yeah, copy that. Definitely fix the font and make it a normal font. Okay. And we're going to customize this. So, good morning.

Sorry to bug you. I'm mailing a large postcard to 5,000 Doors in Milbury featuring local businesses. I'm looking for a And what are we reaching out to? We're reaching out to roofers. You guys got to make sure you edit this.

Don't accidentally send roofers to a bunch of painters. I sometimes do that. I forget to change it. So, I'm looking for a roofer. Would that be something you might want to be on?

You see, this is simple as can be because the point of the cold email, the only point of the cold email is not to sell the people. It's to convince them to respond. It's to not give them a reason not to respond. And I'll take it one step further. The point of the subject line, the very first thing they see, which will be simply question.

That's it. Question. The point of the subject line is to not give them a reason not to open the email. And I'm going to repeat that. It's to not give them a reason not to open the email.

That's it. You're not trying to convince them to join the mailer in the subject line. They will not even read your email when they see that you're trying to sell them on advertising. Okay? So, question.

There's no way they can't open that up cuz you could be a prospect at that point. Now, they opened your email. They get this simple email here that's almost impossible not to at least inquire about. Okay? So, of course, not everybody's going to respond.

This is email. This is a numbers game. Not everybody even reads their emails anymore. But if you're an introvert like me, it gets the job done. It's just a numbers game and it's simple.

Okay? So that's the script. We're going to send that. We're going to do that three times a day. 10 emails per time.

That's 30 times a day. And if you want to ramp up, ramp up the volume, make more email accounts, and just do the same exact thing on other email accounts. So then you can send a ton of emails per day as long as you're collecting them fast enough. And I do provide email list services where I'll collect your email list for you. I'll put the link in the description for that if you're interested in that.

But test down the road. Honestly, I recommend you collect contact info yourself. See how it is to start out. Save your money. Okay, so now I'm not going to actually send that email to a bunch of random businesses in a town that I'm not working, but so I'll show you an email conversation that I had with a prospect by sending that exact same first script, which you can see here.

So, good morning. Sorry to bug you. I'm mailing out a large postcard to 5,000 homes in York featuring local businesses. I'm looking for an auto repair service. Would that be something you might want to be on?

And then here's their response to my email. Good morning. Thank you for reaching out. What is your proposal costwise? This is very common.

Most small business small businesses only care about the cost, and that's fine because we got the cost. So, here's my response. Very simple. There's a little bit more to it, but I'm not going to show the full script just to be fair to the people in my community who paid to join the community. I don't want to give everything away, but that's basically the premise.

And then he gave me a quick call and asked just a couple more questions, and I ended up sending the invoice. He said he wanted to do it. So, same day sale. Literally, you could make a sale, a $500 sale today at the end of this video. If you go blast off a bunch of emails, this could happen for you.

I said, "Thanks for the call. I sent the invoice to you and here's just a recap." And boom, the sale was closed. It really is that simple, especially over email. Okay, so now there's multiple ways that you can collect payments once these people once these small businesses say that they want to join.

So, they could pay cash. They could pay with a check. Some people are old school and prefer to write a check to you. Yes, they're okay writing the check to your name. You don't really I I never got a DBA or an LLC for this.

This is not legal advice or anything, but they're they're typically okay just writing it in your name. It's basically fine to start out. Just validate that this is something you want to do before you even go down that rabbit hole. Okay. So, checks, cash, or I offer the Venmo.

That's very simple. But I also offer Stripe for those who are more professional and they want like a professional invoice. So here's how we're going to do it on Stripe. We're actually going to send an invoice to them. Okay, so we're going to go here.

You got to you got to set up and obviously this is a a account that I'm just I've been playing around with, not my actual account. My actual account has billions of dollars in it. Just kidding. But okay, invoices. We're going to create an invoice.

I'm not going to show you how to set up a Stripe account. Just go to stripe.com and set up an account. Should walk you through it. Okay, Mitch's hot dogs.

What was I doing on here? Okay, so we're going to add a new customer. Let's go 9 by their name is 9 by12 method because I'm I'm going to send an invoice to myself. 9 by12 methodgmail.com.

It's this simple. All right, it's this simple. Okay, we put in the customer. We got to find an item. But let's pretend we haven't made an actual product yet, which our product would be a $500 medium slot.

So pretend that's not there. We're going to make a new one so I could show you how to make a new product. or so we're going to make a line item. You don't even have to create a product. Let's keep this simple.

You're just adding a line item to this invoice. And you're going to see it come right in here. Okay. So, item is going to be a medium slot because we sold a 4x 3x4 inch medium slot. The price is $500.

Okay. We can even add this to the product catalog. I'm not going to bother right now. Item options. You're going to have to look into your own state if like taxes apply and stuff like that.

Okay, in my state you don't have to charge sales tax for marketing services. Just look up, do you have to pay sales tax for marketing services in blank state and you'll get the answer pretty eas easily. Okay, so yeah, fill all that out. Okay, and you're just going to be requesting payment. I set the due date usually for 7 days just so there's a little bit more urgency because sometimes people like to procrastinate.

If you if they're a repeating customer, you can autocharge them if you already have their credit card. Just get consent before you do. Um, and you're going to email the invoice to the customer. This will include a link to the online payment page. So, it's going to be a pay now button basically, just like that.

And you can add a memo. You can add a memo that says like, "Thank you." And you're going to see it all populate down here. See, memo $500, amount due, $500 fake information. And then, yeah, so we're going to send the invoice, and that's going to get sent directly to 9x12method@gmail.

com. And then I'm going to show you what it looks like from the receiving end if you were the small business. So, one second. Okay, here's what it looks like on the receiving end. So, now I'm the small business that you just sent an invoice to.

This is what they got. They got an email from subscribed. I think that's just the way I set up the fake Stripe account. But anyways, they got this email. It'll say from your business name or your actual name.

And then they can just they can see that it's 500 bucks. They can see what it's for. and then they can pay this invoice and they get taken to Stripe, which is a very secure payment platform to actually fill out their payment details and pay. So, I'm not going to keep going because I don't want my credit card information to show. But yeah, now I highly recommend not just sending emails, but also hitting them from different angles like using Facebook and Instagram.

So, you can use Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs to reach out to these same businesses. And that's why I included it on the contact list uh template just so you can collect those links so you can reach out to them there as well because the more angles you can hit them from the better. It's like a onetwo combo. They get your email, they think you're a spammer, but they get you over on Facebook also reaching out to them now. They know you're a real person who's truly thinking about them.

So hit them from multiple angles and you might decide to upgrade to cold calling. So I'm I'm not much of a cold caller myself. I actually do this all over email, but I'll show you a clip of one of our community members who had a fantastic cold call and it's just the perfect example of exactly what to do. Like I said, email is great and it's great for practicing at first, but once you get once you've gotten all the questions and you understand how to answer all those questions, you might have the confidence for calling. So, I'm going to show you that sample call and we'll go from there.

>> All right. So, I know that you said that you're still a relatively new business. So, what exactly are the goals that you're looking to achieve just so I can make sure that I'd even be able to help you in the first place? >> Yeah. So, I'm just looking around trying to see what my options would be and ultimately I want to attract more people to my business.

And I feel like I'm doing pretty well for where I'm at right now considering I started the business back in January. I'm just kind of curious to see what else I could do to kind of put myself out there and attract more people. >> Okay. Yeah. No, definitely I can I can definitely help with that.

Um, have you looked into any other type of marketing yet? Like maybe any type of mail marketing or something online like Facebook or Instagram or anything? >> Yeah, I kind of uh looked at a few different marketing options. Some of them definitely caught my eye, but honestly, most of them were too expensive and a little out of my price range for where I'm at right now. Um, so I'm kind of just feeling the air and looking around and see what else I could find.

>> Yeah, know I definitely hear that a lot and I even had that same problem when I was looking at marketing one of my other businesses. Um, so the good thing about this giant postcard, right, it's going to be a community mailer. So, it's going to be huge. It's about 12 in by 9 in. And essentially what we're doing is we're renting out that space to multiple businesses.

So, since you're sharing that space with 18 other businesses or companies, um, we're able to get that price down significantly. So, usually with direct mail marketing, it would cost about a dollar per household. So, if you're trying to reach 5,000 homes, that would be around $5,000. Um, but with us, we're really only charging 12 cents per home since you are sharing that space. Um, so it's significantly less money to be able to reach the same amount of homes.

>> Okay. Um, so I actually spoke to a guy in town that's offering a similar service. Um, and he said he was able to put my ad in a local magazine for a relatively cheap price. So, is that the same thing you're doing now? >> No, not necessarily.

So, with the magazine, he's going to have I'm assuming he's probably going to have like four or five pages in there. Um, so instead of just 18 companies, you're probably getting put in there with over most likely 100 or 200 different companies in the area or like little small businesses. So, I mean, with us, like if you're coming on as a smoothie shop, right? There's not going to be any other smoothie shops that are on the magazine. You'll be the only one, not in the magazine, but the postcard, you'll be the only one on the postcard.

Um, with the magazine, I I highly doubt if he's putting that many people inside of a magazine that there's going to be exclusivity. So, you can expect to see a lot of other um, smoothie shops. Not only that, but your ad's going to be a lot smaller. People typically are not going to look through the magazines from me just talking around with family and just growing up and seeing those. When I grew up, I don't ever remember my parents really looking at it.

They were just throwing them away. Um, and with that too, like the chance of your ad even being seen amongst the hundreds of others not including the competition that you'll have in there. That's one thing that we do have the upper hand on is that we are able to provide that ex exclusivity where you'll be the only one and then you're kind of being highlighted in the community. So, it builds a little bit more of a brand reputation for you as well. And then because that postcard is about 12 in by 9 in, um, it really just stands out in the mailbox, it's going to be bigger than anything else.

So, um, usually what we see the the postal workers doing is they'll kind of fold or not really fold it, but they'll kind of wrap the rest of the person's mail up in our postcard. So, our postcard will be kind of circled up inside of the mailbox with all their mail inside. So, there's no way they can miss it. So, they're basically forced to look at it no matter what. Um, and that's still going out to 5,000 people that are going to be targeted home.

So, we don't even know if the guy with the magazine if he's going to be targeting homes or not, or if he's just sending it to as many people as possible. So that is a little bit of a difference there. >> Oh, okay. That Yeah, that definitely sounds nice. How many new customers could I reasonably expect to gain from something like this with your company?

>> Yeah. So, we don't necessarily guarantee a certain amount of customer increase, right? Because I can't really control like what the person does when they see the ad. Um, but what I do guarantee is that you will reach 5,000 homes. And you got to think between uh most of those homes are probably going to be a husband and a wife, maybe have some teenagers.

you're going to be seeing or a lot of different eyes are going to be seeing your advertisement and it's going to have a bunch of other different companies too. So, there's going to be something that they kind of put up on their fridge. So, they might not come right away. Um, but maybe if they look at it later on down the road, they'll come back. And then also, too, that all just depends on the ad.

So, if you decided you wanted to do like a promotional deal where they can bring that postcard in or at least bring in a picture of it and then maybe get like a a percentage off of like an order or get something free with a order, then that could definitely increase the amount of people coming in that see this. >> Okay. Yeah, that sounds great. So, would I need to provide an advertisement for my business or is that something y'all could help me out with just because I was still trying to create one for my own and um talking to different people on how to create one and stuff? >> Yeah.

No, so we have an in-house design team that kind of just takes care of everything. So, that's already included in the price, so it's not going to cost anything extra. Um, pretty much after the invoice is paid, then I'll send you a follow-up email just asking some general questions about the business, like contact information, any social media pages or anything like that. That way, uh, I can give that over to the design team so they can kind of look around at your stuff, figure out your brand colors, get your logo and things like that and make you a pretty good advertisement. And also, if you wanted to put like a promotional deal on there, they can do that as well.

And then even if you decide not to use this for another month, you'll still have that that you can use for any other types of advertisements, too. And we're not going to charge you for that. >> No way. Okay, that's really cool. So, with the postcard, is that something I would have to Is that like a onetime purchase or would would it just run monthly?

>> No. So, you can do it monthly if you wanted to. Typically, a lot of people on their first time, they're just going to do it once to try it out. But one thing I do always like to let people know is that it does take multiple points of contact in order for someone to actually turn into a client. So just seeing something one time isn't going to get something or somebody to come in.

Um it's going to be multiple times around like five or six times where they're going to need to see something in order to actually get into the business. Um so sometimes you might have to do the ads for two or three months to actually start to see really really good results. And obviously, you'll start to see some results within the first month. But where it really starts to kick in is after they've seen you a few times highlighted in the local community. That's going to start to build that trust up.

That's going to start to get them on your mind. They'll start noticing your business when they drive past it. They'll start noticing any other ads that you might be doing. And that'll really get the people to come in in about two or three months from now. So, it's really up to you.

Um, if you do decide to do more than one month, we do have discounts on that in three-month increments. And that's something that we can figure out on the back end as well. But yeah, if this is your first time, you can either go with the three-month mailings, which will give you a 5% discount, or you can just try it with the one month and see how it goes, see how you like it, see how the ad works out, and then if you like it after that, then you can continue on if this spot's not already filled up by someone else. >> Okay. Yeah, that that makes sense.

Um, so if I were to go with the three month, what would the price point look like? Um, just because price-wise for an advertisement, I think I I would want to be somewhere around $500. Just because I'm trying to be smart about where I'm investing um my money right now, especially since I'm also just trying to get started with the business still. >> Okay. Yeah.

So, you said $500 where you want to be at and that's per month or just for the three months total. >> Um, months would be that sounds reasonable. >> Okay. Yeah. So, I think the best option that I I'm able to provide for you is we have the full size ad option, which is going to be 3 in x 4 in, and we charge $600 for that.

And that's going to be about 12 cents per home for 5,000 homes. Um, so that one has about eight spaces on the card. It's pretty good for showcasing services or products. Um, and it has a pretty decent amount of room for eye-catching visuals. Think like two business cards stacked on top of each other.

Um, that's about the size of that one. So, if you wanted to do, let me do some quick math. You said you wanted, you're looking at three months, right? >> Yes. >> Yes.

So, that one's 600 a month. And so, after the discount, that would be $1,710. And then we can either do that where you pay that all up front or we can set it up on a like a recurring thing for the next three months and you'll still get the discount either way. >> Okay. Nice.

Okay. Yeah. So, um, I'm not going to lie, that sounds pretty great so far, and I'm definitely interested. Um, so what what would the steps be to get started? What would I need to do?

>> Yeah. So, right after we get off the phone, or even while we're still on the phone, actually, I would just type up the invoice and I would go ahead and send that to you. And then once that invoice gets paid, I'll send you the followup email asking for all the information for the design team to be able to put everything together as far as like the promo deals and everything else that I mentioned before. And then from there, our first postcard is going to go out in the 1st of August. So, it'll just be a waiting game and then obviously there'll be communication in between where we're going to send you the advertisement beforehand to make sure you approve it.

And if you don't like it, you have unlimited revisions up until the day that we send everything to print. So, once everything gets sent to print, there's no uh more revisions that are able to be made. So, right now, since we're still in the early June time frame, you have plenty of time before that 1st of August shows up. >> Okay, great. Yeah, that sounds that sounds amazing.

>> All righty, perfect. I'll go ahead and I'll get that sent over to you. Let me get this typed up really quick. And did you want to do all three months up front or did you want to set that up for like a recurring type thing? >> Um, I think I want to do the recurring payments for the three months.

Okay, let me get that set up really quick and then I'll give you the 5% discount. So that'll bring it to let's see that's going to be $570 a month. So you're saving about $90 total. >> Okay, nice. >> And then I just got that sent over to your email.

Can you check to see if you got that really quick? >> One second. Yes, it looks like I got it. >> Okay, perfect. So, as soon as you finish that out, I'll go ahead and I'll send you the follow-up email and then we'll start working on the advertisement.

How's that sound? >> That sounds great. I'm so excited. Thank you so much. >> All right.

Perfect. Thank you. I hope you have a great day and then we'll stay in touch. >> Okay. Thanks.

>> All righty. Good night. >> Okay. Obviously, that was amazing. He made a very lucrative sale and did a freaking fantastic job answering her questions and any objections.

She was a one of the easier prospects, but he did a amazing job. And yes, I looked up money to give a backdrop for this clip. Like I said, raw authentic. I had no idea what to look up. So, this is what I'm doing.

This is just cut and dry. But anyways, moving on. The third way, other than text, I mean, Facebook, all that stuff, email, and calling, you could actually reach out doortodoor. So, you're actually going doortodoor to these businesses. And oftentimes some of our members will bring a sample card like this one with them to show prospects, hopefully the business owner there, and they can actually show them or leave this there with them because it does the selling for them.

I mean, look how big this is. It it's it's a unicorn. So really, when you're just providing the opportunity and showing them the card, it does the selling. So another option is going door to door. And you would basically use the exact same scripts, the exact same premise that I went over in the core concept section right in the beginning of this.

You just need to really study up those core concepts and all of the conversations will be fluid. You don't need to focus on scripts. It's just it's going to come out when you understand the core concepts, the core benefits of this. And then you're just having a conversation with them. You're just answering their questions.

And yeah, so doortodoor, let's move on. Now that we're done doing all the prospecting, we've made the sales. I showed you guys how to collect payments. Let's move on to ads. Okay, here we are again in the course and community.

I'm giving you a little bit more free little nugget here. This is the info you're going to ask for when you make a sale so that you can design the ad for them or send it off to a designer. So, first make it if they're doing the ad themsel and they're going to send you the ad. If they're doing the design themsel, make it very clear to them the dimensions of their ad. So, a standard size slot here is going to be 3.

8x2 8x 2.8 in. And make it clear it's 3.8 in tall by 2.8 in wide.

Make that very clear or they'll accidentally send you a landscape ad instead of a portrait style ad. Okay? Make that very clear. A double ad, which I often sell like two as one, is a it's a 4x6. Okay?

So, make it very clear to them the dimensions so that they send you the right size the first time. And if you're designing the ad, this is the info that you're going to want to ask them for. But they're going to really know what to tell you. They know what their ad to they want it to look like and what they want it to say. But generally, you're going to want their contact info.

You're going to want their logo. You're going to want what they're offering, like a 20% discount, whatever they're offering, if they are, what they want it to say, and just any general design, branding, colors, and specifications that they care about. You can also go to their website and use a Chrome extension called Colorpick Eyeropper. If you look up like color pick eyropper on Google Chrome extensions that will pop up and then you can actually pick you can actually like click on a color on any website and it'll give you the hex code for that color. So you can use their exact branding colors if you like copy the color from their logo for example.

So color pick eyropper it's a free Google Chrome extension. So yeah that's what you'll typically ask for but they're going to know what they want their ad to look like. They'll describe it to you. And now let's get on to actually let's not get on to designing the ad because first I'll explain to you I do have a design team. So like a lot of people get really scared about this part for some reason even though the prospecting takes the longest.

That's what you need to worry about. This ad design is simple. Okay. Just pass it off to my design team. It's $25 per ad.

And you're not going to need all these ads designed because most businesses will send them in anyway. But for any oneoff ad designs, just send it into my design team. tell them exactly what it's supposed to have. We'll handle it for you so you don't have to worry about it. But if you want to do some designs, let's do one together.

So, we'll go through it together. Okay. So, we're going to design our ads in Canva. Canva.com.

It's a very simple graphic design soft or website basically. So, we're actually I have templates in the community. So, we're going to go to pre the pre-esigned ad templates in the freebies. This makes life so much easier. See, I already have pre-esigned ad templates that you can actually edit to fit the proper business.

So, you're just going to click on that and then we're going to click on view template and then open an editor. And now you can actually use the templates that I created for you for all different industries and you can customize them to match the businesses that you know you sold. So, for example, if we have a a car washing business or, you know, car detailing and their name is American Eagle. Boom. Now, we have an ad for American Eagle.

Let's say his name is Mike Dobby. What a sweet name. Then you can change their phone number. We'll change the address. Five five Nicole Road Bobby Mine.

Boom. You can basically I mean it's just so simple when you have the ad templates. And if you don't know how to use Canva, I have a whole dedicated video to Canva. Just click the the card in the top right corner of the screen if you want to jump there right now or you can find it on my channel later. But that's Canva.

That's how simple ad design can be. Once they tell you what they want, you can use any of these pre-made templates and just customize the wording, the colors. You can edit the colors, too, obviously. Like look, boom. If their brand colors are blue, boom.

Just change things to blue. It's very very simple to work. Okay, so that's that's Canva. Use the templates. It makes life so much easier.

Then you don't have to stress or just hire a design team. Okay. Now, when we've finalized the ad creation, obviously we have to put it onto the postcard itself. So, what we're going to do is we're going to click share. We're going to click download, and we're going to choose the page.

Right now, I just I only want to download page one. So, I'm going to click that. Make sure you're downloading as a PNG. This is important so that when you zoom it in, it's extra clear, still clear quality. Okay, so PNG.

Choose the page. Download. Okay, wait for it to download. Now we have it downloaded. We're going to go over here to our templates again.

We're going to go to proper size templates. And I have a full 9x12 postcard template for you. Okay, this is also on Canva that you can use. Just going to click use design, open an editor, and now we're going to take that ad that we just downloaded. Or let's do it a way that's more comprehensible.

Go to uploads. Okay. Take that ad that we just downloaded. Drag it in there. Now it's uploading.

Okay. Okay. It's uploaded. Now we drag it into the 9 by12. And boom.

It's on the 9 by12. Obviously, it's too big. So, what we're going to do is we're going to take a corner and drag it down. And it helps if you zoom in, then you can get more accurate with stuff. We're going to just try to line it up here.

Okay, just line it up. Okay, my computer started freaking out, but okay. So, we're going to just line it up. And you'll notice that these have like a slightly rounded border here. So, we're actually going to give the ad a rounded border as well.

Let me make sure I'm clicked on the right thing. We're going to give it a rounded border of five pixels. Okay. So then it fits properly on the the corners. And there we go.

We have our ad. Now, once we have all 16 slots sold and we have all our ads placed on the entire card, front and back, you're ready to print. I mean, you've basically done it. You've collected the money. You've put the ads on because you don't put the ads on until you collected the money.

Don't waste your time until they've actually committed with cash. Okay. So, what we're going to do is we're going to send it off to the printer via email. So, you're going to press share, you're going to press download, and you're going to download as PDF print this time in order to send it to the printer. Okay?

So, you're going to press download. And once we have it downloaded, you're going to go to 9 by12method.com. You're going to go to print because I actually have printing services. And we're not going to get into you can choose the quantity blah blah blah.

You can go check out 9x12method.com/print for all the different options I provide. But anyways, if you want to use me for printing or use somebody else, totally fine. But that's an option. Okay?

And what you would do once you make the order is you just email me with your name and the routes that you want those cards to get sent to and I do the total fulfillment for you and it's basically out of your hands. You've completed your first card. And guys, I want to see you absolutely crush it. Okay? So, if you need anything at all or if you have any questions whatsoever, comment it down below.

I'll do my best to get to everybody's questions, anything you got for me, okay? And if you want to join that community again with all the resources, the link is in the description. But honestly, I'd say don't do it yet. If you're still brand new, if you just learned about this, you don't have to join the community yet. Validate that this is something you really want to do.

Don't drop the $100 until you really know this is something you want to do. So, I recommend watching this video where I actually interviewed one of our members who was a father and sold out his first card within one month, made $5,000 profit while working a full-time job, while being a father, and while running another business on the side. So, we had a conversation about exactly what he did. It was great. Watch that video.

Join the community afterwards. I'll see you there.
