A short breakdown of how a shared 9x12 postcard differs from coupon envelope mailers, with selling points on exclusivity, visibility, and staying power.
Key takeaways
- A 9x12 card holds roughly 16 to 20 local businesses, far fewer than a stuffed coupon envelope, so each ad gets more attention.
- Frame the card as relevant community mail from local businesses rather than junk mail, which answers a common objection from prospects.
- Category exclusivity is a strong selling point: there is only one roofer on the card, while envelope mailers can carry several competitors.
- Every advertiser gets immediate front-page visibility, while an envelope can be tossed unopened when the homeowner needs nothing inside it.
- A card with good local offers often ends up on the fridge, so a roofer's number is right there weeks later when a leak starts.

okay so I just commented on someone's Post in the school Community uh about vpac and the differences and everything I just thought I'd record a quick video um resumming basically that and so um there's you know it's easy to think at first like we're we're just like you know it could be very similar and I can understand how uh a business could think that at first but there are several differences um and the first being that it's it's not as many businesses you know it maybe 16 to 20 businesses depending on how you're doing your card uh versus you know however many business businesses are in the valp PAC also another great um point to bring up is that a lot of that can be considered junk mail because it's like people that'll be another uh thing that people will bring up as an objection I like oh I don't I don't want to do junk mail like junk mail is like stuff that's unwanted it's like insurance rates and like all this stuff the the elections and whatnot stuff that you don't want but this is different this is like stuff from these are ads that are relevant to you and your community um and they're all local businesses so um there are no like unless you're unless you're choosing to do that for your 9 by1 12 it's typically local businesses and so it's all supporting local and reaching your local neighborhood uh one of the great things is that uh you are an exclusive um Advertiser so there's only one roofer for example this is something that you can bring up to them is like you're the only roofer there might be two or three different roofers in the valp PAC uh but more important than that if I'm not in the market for something I'm not keeping it so there could be a hundred different flyers and vpac but if I'm not if I'm just GNA pick and choose if I'm going to go through it right the first first thing about that is that you know I might just throw the whole freaking thing in the garbage with the postcard you have immediate guaranteed visibility and everyone gets a front page spot so that's just like another great thing about it but on top of that um because there is a diversity and because it is local and it has that stickability and people will you know more than likely keep it if you have some good offers and good uh you know coupons and stuff some local restaurants and and things on there um when I am in the market for something like that I might not be in the market for a roofing company right now and if I got the Val pack that's gone right in the trash because I don't need a roofer however you know a month and a half later when my roof starts leaking and that's on my fridge I'm like oh my gosh I need someone oh look there's a freaking number for a roofer right on my fridge uh so it's just another another really um really good selling point so
